Ok, new month, and coming up on the end of the first quarter, so time to evaluate again. Are you ready?
Jesus is coming, are you ready? Are you ready for His return? Will you be found busy obeying His directive? Have you gotten so busy (or distracted) that you forgot He is coming for you soon?
People get ready, Jesus is coming, Soon we’ll be going home
People get ready, Jesus is coming to take from the world His own
People get ready, Jesus is coming, Soon we’ll be going home.
Those are lyrics from a Crystal Lewis song: People get ready, Jesus is comin’
We have a commission to fulfill here, and we need to be busy doing that, but we can’t forget that the whole reason for that commission is to make Heaven crowded, take as many people with us as we can. Let’s not delay getting started on our mission, because we don’t know how much time we have left. If we keep in mind that our days are numbered and time is short, it may help put things in perspective. It also may help us be more willing to be bold.
Matthew 24:36-44 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Jesus talking there, warning us to be ready. Let us shake off any procrastination, distraction, laziness, nervousness or whatever else may be keeping us from being bold disciples making disciples. If you are waiting for the other shoe to drop or some sign to tell you that “oh, it’s really close now” …that’s already happened! Who knows, the next shoe to drop just might be the rapture, so we need to get it in gear and get moving. Who do you know that you absolutely cannot stand the thought of them not being in heaven? Now either start praying diligently daily for their salvation and that the Lord will send them someone that they will listen to so that they can choose Him, or be that person yourself and share the gospel with them…today…how bout now…or now…or this afternoon. We need to light a fire under us or better yet, let the Holy Spirit light a fire in us that will get us moving. We will quickly be a quarter of the way through 2026; will you be able to look back at this quarter and say that you reached out to some people with the message of Truth?
Jesus, First thank you for your sacrifice for me. Help me to get busy making disciples for you. Help me to be mindful of your return and keep on task. Help me to be bold and winsome. When I wake up each day remind me that your goal for my day is to reach others for you and make disciples. Remind me that every single day and every single thing revolves around following you. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your plan.
They were all Ordinary Men. -God has a plan for each of us to be a part of his plan! Today’s verse to remind us that He has called us (the ordinary) to do the extraordinary:
John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
