JULY 25th
Are you content with where you are now spiritually? Do you want to grow in your faith? The solution to growing is probably not what you think. The solution to your growth is to find someone to disciple. Find a new believer or someone that wants to grow in their faith and start discipling them.
So if you want to grow, ask the Lord to send you someone to disciple and then start pouring into them. They will likely need the basics and in teaching them those, you will learn way more than you realized you didn’t know. The Lord will point out things to you in His Word that you overlooked before and you will discover the depth of Truths that you took at surface value before.
Don’t think that you need to know everything before you disciple, you will learn together. There will be specific questions that you won’t be able to answer and you can either look it up together (which will teach them how to look things up) or it is something that nobody knows the answer to yet which means you wait til Heaven. If you run into something that you can’t find the answer to or you are unsure about, pick up your phone and ask Pastor Bill.
But you know the biggest answer already. His Name is JESUS. There really is something to WWJD. When you are faced with any situation, you really can apply that. How do we know what Jesus would do? We read HIS words. Pick up the gospels and read together. Ask Him to show you what He would do.
Ephesians 5:1-2 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Philippians 2:5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus
1 Corinthians 2:16 For “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.
Reading the gospels will give you a feel for how different the mind of Jesus is and the Holy Spirit will lead you on how to apply that. Remember you have the Holy Spirit in you, so you have access to the mind of Christ. Teaching yourself to tap into that while teaching someone else will bring about an enormous amount of growth. Yes, bring your person to church and biblestudy too and if you need other resources, just ask.
Nothing will fuel you or grow you like discipling someone. Your mindset will change as you start to see things from a teaching perspective. You have all of the tools you need to get started. You have the Holy Spirit and you have the Word of God, so have at it!
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Jesus, I want to keep growing in you instead of being complacent. Send me someone to disciple and help me to lead them in their walk with you. Show me opportunities to minister to others and apply your Word to my life and theirs. Thank you for having a plan for me and help me to have the courage to step out in faith and do what you have asked me to do.
