Don't Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table

A conclusion/review of a six-week sermon series rooted in Psalm 23, especially Psalm 23:5. The central message is that God prepares a table for His people in the presence of their enemies, inviting believers into close fellowship, peace, provision, protection, restoration, and truth through Jesus, the Good Shepherd.

The enemy tries to gain access to our thoughts, emotions, attitudes, words, decisions, and responses through lies, temptation, fear, shame, pride, resentment, comparison, discouragement, and accusation. Believers are called to recognize these tactics, reject the enemy’s lies, and keep their eyes fixed on Jesus.

The real battlefield is the mind. Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 10:3–5 and Romans 12:2, calls believers to take every thought captive, renew their minds with God’s Word, and live in daily obedience. Victory begins with changed thinking, surrender to Christ, and learning to fight from the victory Jesus has already won rather than fighting for victory.

Condemnation vs Conviction. Condemnation comes from the enemy and leads to guilt, shame, hiding, and despair. Conviction comes from the Holy Spirit and leads to repentance, surrender, restoration, and freedom. Because of Jesus, guilt is not the final word; believers are forgiven, restored, and invited back to the table.

God does not always remove the battle, but He gives His presence in the middle of it. The table is already prepared, the King is already seated, and the invitation still stands. The enemy may be present, but he is not invited. Believers are called to stay seated with Jesus, refuse the enemy access, live from victory, and allow God’s goodness to overflow as a witness to others.
