The Book of Revelation Devotions Day 68
DAY 68
Worried about making it through difficult times? What if the rapture is not before the hard stuff? What if that means we have to go through some difficult things or persecution? Don’t go getting yourself stirred up and fearful. Fear is not from God. We know the rapture will happen, but we don’t know when it will happen. We don’t know how much of the tribulation we will experience, we don’t know what we will face personally. But let’s focus on the facts, look at what we do know…
No matter what we face, He is with us! Through every scenario you may face the one thing you can count on in life is that Jesus will be standing right there with you.
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Do not think for one minute that He will not give you exactly what you need to get through each situation. Not only that, He will be with you and He will comfort you if you let Him!
Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
He will be everything that we need Him to be at every moment in our lives, good and bad. Sometimes we need different things from Him depending on our situation, but no matter what that is, He knows best what we need and we can count on Him to be exactly who we need. Perhaps you have heard the saying: Sometimes He calms the storm, sometimes He calms His child.
We can count on Him. When He gave us the great commission and instructions before He returned to Heaven, He reminded us that we are not without Him.
Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
So take heart, our fully capable and all-knowing Jesus has us in His hands. Be strong and courageous. Instead of spending energy worrying about what might be, focus on what is. Give yourself time and reminders to focus on His presence in your life now. Walk in what His plan is for your life, every day, not just over all. Focus on the what is, not the what if’s. Focus on the known, not the unknown. Spend time getting to know the known even more, that is, Jesus and His promises to you.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Jesus, it is so easy to derail my thinking and become worried or fearful when I focus on the wrong things. Help me to remember your love for me and that your presence is always with me. Help me to understand and remember that you will always provide exactly what I need when I need it. Thank you for your patience with my human mind and my weaknesses. Thank you that I have refuge in the shadow of your wings. Help me to focus my time and energy on spending time with you and learning your love better. Help me to be the light and an encouragement to others. Thank you for your love Jesus.
