The Book of Revelation Devotions Day 76
DAY 76
We know that we need discernment and we need to know the Truth so that we can recognize the counterfeit. This can feel like a heavy weight on us. How much do we need to study and learn so that we know enough? What if we don’t study the right verses or enough verses?
We need to stop for minute and calm down if we are wigged out. This doesn’t fall completely on us. God would never do that to us, (He knows how incompetent we are on our own.) There is no way we would get there, we would get distracted, or lazy, or proud. So He made it a partnership.
Let this sink in…Truth is NOT discovered, it is REVEALED.
(Ummm, it’s even in the name of the book: it’s called Revelation, NOT discovery.) So yes, we have to study. But the revealing is up to the Holy Spirit.
Phew! That’s a relief!
Let’s look at some verses:
Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Joshua 1:8 (NLT) Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
1 Corinthians 2:10-13 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Matthew 16:16-17 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.
So yes, we need to study and seek the Lord with all of our heart and then He is faithful to reveal Himself to us and show us the Truth that we need. We can ask Him for direction too. Rather than just picking a spot in the Bible to read, ask Him where to start, pray about it. He is faithful to lead, remember, He wants us to succeed. He wants us to know Him, He wants us to know the Truth. He wants us to be able to recognize the counterfeit. That is why He made it a partnership and not all on us.
Jesus, thank you for being willing to reveal your Truth to me. Help me Holy Spirit to recognize your voice and lead me to study exactly what I need to study. Help me to remember and understand what I read and give me opportunities to use what I have learned and read. Help me to recognize those opportunities. Thank you for your Word and help me never to take it for granted.
