Joshua 3:5 Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

Is God doing amazing things among you? If not, why not? Is it because you haven’t consecrated yourself (surrendered completely) or is it because of a spiritual battle going on that is hindering it? Perhaps He actually is doing amazing things among you but your eyes are not open to see these things? Maybe you aren’t looking for amazing things?

Not that seeing Him do amazing things can be earned by us, like as a reward or something, although there are rewards.

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

But we are not talking about amazing things as rewards among us. However, we have to consider why we don’t see Him doing amazing things among us. These amazing things are not for our benefit, they are for His glory and to fulfill His plan. But if we want to see this in our lives we need to be sure to stay completely surrendered to Him, be steadfast in prayer, fighting the spiritual battles, and expecting to see God move among us so that we will be looking for Him and expecting Him to move. Let us not hinder the Holy Spirit in our lives and we will see Him move much more and experience that abundant full life that Jesus talked about.

Amazing things, what does that mean? What do you think it means? Miracles? Healing? Salvation? Disciple-making? Changed hearts? Transformed minds? Freedom from hurts, habits, and hangups? All those things are amazing! Be sure not to put God in a box, what He thinks is amazing may not match our ideas.

But perhaps our eyes aren’t looking for amazing things because we are busy noticing the enemies, challenges and troubles. Doing amazing things among us does not mean absence of trouble. Remember the promised land flowed with milk and honey but also had enemies, battles and challenges. Plus, when amazing things are happening, you can bet that satan does not like it and bumps his schemes up a notch. So, when you feel a target on your back, know that God must be moving greatly even if you can’t see it yet. Are you ready to see God move in your life? Start being grateful for it before you even see it happen. Start thanking Him for what He is already working on that you can’t see yet. Be obedient and step out in faith in the direction He is calling you. Consecrate yourself, surrender, set yourself apart for Him, all of you. Call to Him and ask Him to show you, then watch what He does!

Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

Jesus, thank you that you work in amazing and mysterious ways that are beyond my own plans. Help me to be grateful even when all I can see with my physical eyes is trouble. Help me to remember that you are working even when I don’t see it yet. I need your help to be obedient and walk in faith. Help me to surrender all of me to you, I know you are doing amazing things and I don’t want to miss out on being a part of it because of my own selfishness or pride. Help me to want to give up the things that I need to surrender to you. Thank you Jesus. Thank you for your perfect love and perfect plan.
