Don’t let lies keep you from freedom.

Lie: You are what you do or what you have done. Your weaknesses or flaws are your identity.

First, how convinced are you that your debt is paid?

How convinced are you that you are redeemed? OR that you are redeemable?

Are you captured by the love of Christ?

The enemy will tell you that you are not worthy and not worth redeeming. He will tell you that your identity is based on your flaws and sin, you past mistakes, hurts, habits, or hangups. Jesus will tell you something totally different. Who are you going to listen to?

Psalm 139:13-18 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!

Isaiah 43:1 But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece (handiwork,) created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

You are wonderfully made. You are His. You are precious. You have purpose.

Your weaknesses, flaws, mistakes and sins are not your identity, they are part of your story, but they are not who you are. Your identity is not what you do, it is who God created you to be.

Does a created thing determine its purpose or worth OR does the creator determine the purpose and worth of the created thing?!?

Your identity and value is determined by your CREATOR!!

Your creator says that you are His masterpiece, who are you (or anyone else) to tell the Creator that He is wrong?

He redeems you because He loves you, not because you deserve it.

Read Romans 8 and immerse yourself in His love.

We must take care to see ourselves through the eyes of our loving Savior not our own eyes. We may not be able to picture ourselves in a certain circumstance or position or ministry etc., but He can and may be calling us to what we cannot see. We don’t want our inability to let go of our beliefs about our flaws, weaknesses or past to keep us from experiencing God’s best for us or for our spouse.

So let go of the lie and decide…do you want to be a POW or a warrior? Remember your brain was made to endure hardship and become stronger, making you more able to face what is next. What do you want to come from your past? Do you want to hold on to it and make it your identity or do you want to let it strengthen you?

Jesus, thank you for loving me and for thinking about me. Help me to recognize when I am believing a lie from the enemy. Help me to let go of my weaknesses, flaws and past and start taking hold of my identity in you. Help me to see who you created me to be and help me to allow you to let my past and the hard things in my life make me a warrior instead of a prisoner of war. Thank you for making freedom possible for me Jesus.
