SEPTEMBER 26th

Psalm 119:105-106 Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise it again: I will obey your righteous regulations.

If you are anywhere near my age you are probably singing that Amy Grant song in your head right now 😉

Psalm 119:124-135 Deal with your servant according to your love and teach me your decrees. I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes. It is time for you to act, Lord; your law is being broken. Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path. Your statutes are wonderful; therefore I obey them. The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. I open my mouth and pant, longing for your commands. Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. Redeem me from human oppression, that I may obey your precepts. Make your face shine on your servant and teach me your decrees.

Psalm 119:169-176 O LORD, listen to my cry; give me the discerning mind you promised. Listen to my prayer; rescue me as you promised. Let praise flow from my lips, for you have taught me your decrees. Let my tongue sing about your word, for all your commands are right. Give me a helping hand, for I have chosen to follow your commandments. O LORD, I have longed for your rescue, and your instructions are my delight. Let me live so I can praise you, and may your regulations help me. I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not forgotten your commands.

Let the honesty of this ending section draw you back into His arms and back into His Word today. Let us wholeheartedly lean into His Word today in obedience and experience all that He has for us. Let every part of our heart be uncovered before Him so that we remain steadfast and do not wander again. Surrender whatever part of your heart that has wandered from His heart so that you can be wholly holy.

Psalm 119 is long, 176 verses and it is all about the Word of God. We have meandered through some of it this week. Take some time yourself to read the parts we haven’t covered, and you will be rewarded, you will be gaining wisdom. Pay attention to each verse and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you personally about each verse that you read. I wouldn’t speed through it in one day; just take a section per day.

Lord, thank you for your grace and mercy. Help me to be saturated with your Word. Let no sin rule over me and help my heart not to wander. Help me to be completely surrendered to you. Show me the parts that I have reserved for self and have not surrendered yet. I do not want to wander from you but I need your help. Thank you for being willing to come after me, Good Shepherd!
