So sharing the Gospel is not optional, that is why we are here. How many times have you gone to the grocery store or hardware store without even looking for an opportunity to share Jesus with someone? That is really the main point of our day today, so how can we walk in that? One way to be in tune with the Holy Spirit’s plan for the day is to pray. Our brain pays attention to the things we pay attention to…I know that sounds strange but…our brain will begin to look for the things that fulfill what we have paid attention to.

For example, think about it like this: If you buy a new car, let’s say a black Suburban, you will begin to notice all of the black Suburbans on the roads. This is the way our brain is wired. Your brain pays attention to what your mind puts in front of you. So if you begin to pray for opportunities to share the Gospel today, you will begin to notice those opportunities. If you start your day connecting with the Holy Spirit and specifically ask Him to show you how to share the Gospel, you will notice Him helping you with that throughout your day. If you pray for courage and boldness, you will notice opportunities to be courageous and bold.

We have been in instructed to share the Gospel, but we have also been instructed to pray about that. And we see Paul ask for prayer for that very thing often.

We should be praying for the harvest of souls, for workers to harvest (that is you and I), for boldness and courage, for guidance and opportunities, etc.

Colossians 4:2-4 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

Ephesians 6:18-20 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Matthew 9:37-38 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Let us be praying for opportunities to share and be bold with our faith. Let us connect with the Holy Spirit each morning so that we can be sensitive to His plan throughout the day.

Lord thank you for the opportunity to be part of your plan. Forgive me for not praying often enough for the lost souls and for believers to be more bold in sharing faith with the lost. Forgive me for not sharing my faith as much as I should and for not praying for opportunities to do that. Help me Holy Spirit to stay tuned into you throughout my day and give me the boldness that I need and the words to speak. Soften the hearts of those that I will cross paths with today that need to hear your Truth and help me to recognize open doors and opportunities when they arise. Help me to look for them everywhere.
