December 22 Devotion
Be Body Builders, not weaklings. The Body of Christ, that is.
We should build each other up in the most holy faith. Build up the body of Christ, strengthen each other.
How? Well for one thing we can remind each other that we are not a bunch of weaklings and that we have the life-giving, healing power of the Holy Spirit in us. The same power that rose Jesus from the dead. THE SAME POWER THAT ROSE JESUS FROM THE DEAD.
Ephesians 1: 17-23 “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit f of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”
THE SAME POWER THAT ROSE JESUS FROM THE DEAD…IS…AT…WORK…IN…US…
Ephesians 3:20-21 “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
He does it, but He does it IN us! That is a faith-building, life-changing realization. We don’t have to skulk around like a bunch of weaklings. Yes, we need to know that it is not OUR power, it is HIS power, but it is IN US! We don’t have to take life laying down, being run over or walked on by the enemy.
Do you find it easy to believe in that power when it comes to raising Jesus from the dead but more difficult to believe when it comes to your own life? That power and that promise is not limited to the pages that fall between Genesis and Revelation. It is for all who believe TODAY as well.
Acts 2:38-39 “Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
Let that sink in. ALL whom the Lord will call. That means you. Remind yourself, and remind someone else today, that you have the full power of the Holy Spirit in you today.
