December 19 Devotion
We have full access to the Trinity, 24/7, 365. But we don’t act like it do we?
We let the devil bully us, taunt us, call us worthless, failures, or any number of demeaning titles. Instead of standing up and threatening to tell our Dad on him, we entertain his lies and sometimes even believe them. What we should do, is remember who we are in Christ and stand up to the enemy or at the very least run to our Father and let Him remind us that our big brother Jesus already kicked Satan’s behind and that we are allowed to remind the enemy of this fact anytime we want to.
Not to make light of all of this at all, but sometimes we just need to hear it in our modern language to make it sink in a little differently. Why do we put up with the lies of the enemy? Why do we forget that we always have the whole Trinity on speed-dial?
John 16:26-27 “In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.”
John 14:16-17, 26 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. V26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
We have continuous access to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Why do we forget that we are not just an obligation? We are the children that He loves! Jesus is fully God, but he is the first of many siblings, we are adopted in to the family!
Romans 8:29 “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.”
We use the phrase “the family of God,” but we don’t act like it always. Let’s remember our identity today. As you go through your day today, try to see everything in light of the fact that your Father is the one and only Almighty God, King of Kings, Lord of Lords and that makes you royalty. Your brother Jesus, who is also your Savior, is the one that spoke creation into existence. He defended you to the death and made a pronouncement of hope over your future. Try consulting the Trinity about everything that comes at you today, better yet, talk to the Trinity BEFORE each step you take.
