December 26 Devotion
Christmas isn’t over, not if you are a Christ follower. There is too much to appreciate about the coming of our Savior Jesus to limit that to one day. So today, let’s take a bit to think about the most precious aspects of Jesus to us personally. This will be different for different people because of our different experiences in life.
Think through some of the names of God listed in the Bible, or the attributes of God described in the Bible. Which are most precious to you?
Take it a step further…come up with your own words. How would you describe your favorite things about Jesus?
Pick 5 and write them down. Do it now if you can. Look at that list and see if you can find a scripture reference about each one of those. If you need to use an app there are many out there. For example, Bible Hub. Go to it and type in your word or phrase and look at the scriptures that pop up.
I encourage you to add a word to this list everyday or at least every week and put it somewhere that you can see it every day, as a reminder of who Jesus is to you.
Now, take it another step further… How would you describe Jesus to someone who had never heard of Him in a way that they will leave feeling like they know Him? Try this, don’t blow it off, actually try to do it.
If you do these two exercises, (write down who Jesus is to you and figure out how you would describe Him to someone,) you will be well equipped and ready to share your faith with anyone you meet. And believe me, the Lord will send you people that need to hear it.
1 Peter 3:15 “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”
Even this verse puts things in proper order. First, revere Christ in our hearts; that is establish in our hearts who He is to us. Then be prepared to share it with others.
Your year ahead will be different if you do these two things, AND other peoples’ years will be different because you have shared with them. Determine to be life-changing this coming year and prepare your heart for that task.
