December 28 Devotion

What if I told you that I knew of something that could make you more alive. (And it is free.) Not only that but you probably already own it. Too good to be true? Not only is it true, it is Truth. The Word of God. Review how the Bible isn’t just a book, not just words on a page. It is alive and it life-giving. It is true and it is Truth.

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

1 Peter 1:23-24 “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.”

1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

Proverbs 4:13, 20-22 “Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life. My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.”

And Jesus said in John 6:63 “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.”

The Words of God are life to us. They are LIFE to us. We talked before how they are light to us, but beyond that they are LIFE to us.

And think about this: If your best friend or spouse wrote a book, wouldn’t you read it?! Of course you would. So, God wrote a best seller, have you read it yet? Check it out, it will be LIFE to you.

Bonus: When we read THIS book, we get to know the Author, not just His writing. Because this book is not just another story, (it is alive and active,) it forges in us a deeper relationship with the author.
