AUGUST 11th

We have healing to bestow to others. I’m not talking about physical healing (although that is certainly possible!) All around us are broken, hurting people. We don’t just have the answer for them, we have healing for them. We have the Holy Spirit in us, we have the Word of God in us, and we have the love of Jesus in us. Why do we walk around with the attitude that someday God will do it, we just keep sharing and pointing them to Him. It is true, God is the source of all healing, not us. But when will we get brave enough to get off our duff and do something instead of just talking about the possibilities available to them. God brings hurting people into our lives and gives us the ability and the command to speak healing to others but instead we just say nice words about Jesus to them and then wait for Him to do it some other way. We already have the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, what are we waiting for?

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

John 14:12-13 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

What if we went about our day with the goal of bestowing healing to the broken people around us? What if our goal for the day was to allow God to use us to mend the hearts of those we come in contact with each moment? Not just speaking words but stopping to pray, to lay our hand on them and speak healing into their hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit? Our day would go much differently than we can imagine. We would see a lot of hearts changed. What if the hurting people we come in contact with are just waiting for us to take that bold step?

We would be doing the Father’s will, He is close to the brokenhearted.

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

What are we waiting for? Are you waiting to be perfect or completely mended yourself? Broken people are reached by people who are on the journey being mended, not by those who are perfect. Pray and ask the Lord to help you completely surrender to the Holy Spirit and then show you who He wants to touch through you first. Don’t be afraid of not being perfect, that is what people are looking for, it makes them more comfortable.

Jesus thank you for making my healing possible. Help me to be bold enough to offer healing to others. Help me to surrender completely to you Holy Spirit so that you can use me to do greater things. I don’t want to miss your best for me, help me to be obedient. Show me those in my life that you want to reach and show me how to reach them. Thank you for your amazing love Lord.
