December 28
Throughout your day today try to feast on the presence of God. We have been reminded that He is ALWAYS WITH us, let’s try to remember that today. Rather than choking down your devotions this morning and letting that be what nourishes you for the rest of the day, plan snacks throughout your day. Set an alarm on your phone to remind you that Jesus is right there with you. Send yourself a note with a verse or two to find and read later in the day. Tie a string on your finger, put a post it note on your steering wheel, whatever works for you. Then don’t just brush those reminders off with “Oh that’s nice,” instead try to savor the flavor and let it ooze down in the cracks of your heart and soul and be the healing balm that it is intended to be.
If we gobble up our devotions in the morning barely tasting them at all so that we can put a check in a box then what’s the point. The point should be to spend time “with” Jesus and let His word work it’s miracle in US.
Enough said, instead of my words, spend a few minutes focusing on His words.
Isaiah 55:11 “so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Psalm 119:15-16 “I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.”
Psalm 119:18 “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.”
Psalm 119:24-35 “Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors. I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word. I gave an account of my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees. Cause me to understand the way of your precepts, that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds. My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law. I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. I hold fast to your statutes, Lord; do not let me be put to shame. I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding. Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.”
