Someday we will have all the answers to our puzzling “whys” and “hows,” but for now we just stand in faith. Someday we will be able to see God for who He really is and understand His nature, to fully understand the complex relationship between holiness and love, between righteousness and mercy/grace, and seen and unseen realities and understand the war going on in the spiritual realm.

The bible says that for now we see like a reflection in a mirror instead of face to face.

1 Corinthians 13:12 “For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

In our modern times, mirrors are pretty good so we can see almost perfect reflections of ourselves now. However, in the days the Bible was written mirrors were not very clear and I could be very difficult to see details or much more than the outlines or general shapes of things.

This is one verse that is maybe better portrayed in the King James Version because it uses the phrase “For now we see through a glass, darkly…”

If you haven’t seen the series The Chosen, check it out and pay attention to the times that they use a “glass” (mirror) to see themselves, it gives you a good picture. I can’t imagine.

That’s what it is like for us right now, here on earth, it’s like trying to see purely by a poor reflection in a dinner plate or a mud puddle. We can’t fully comprehend spiritual things or even barely comprehend them at times. This is why we have to stay tuned in to the Holy Spirit for direction, because there is no way we can find our own way. But Someday…

When we stay close to God, He chooses to reveal parts of Himself to us while we are still here.

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

He states in His word that we will find Him when we seek Him with all of our heart (Jeremiah 29:13), so we do get to know parts of Him. But we have this promise that someday we will know God fully and understand all things, not just part of things.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for Someday!
