OCTOBER 8th
Speaking of our relationship with the Lord, I ran across this verse today. I don’t think I have ever noticed it before.
Psalm 25:14 The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.
Let that sink in for a minute…have you thought about God confiding in you? Have you thought about God telling His secrets to you?
The Word says it, it is right there in black and white and there are other similar verses. But…who does He confide in? Those who fear Him. Do we fear Him? Are we so afraid to be separated from Him that we avoid the sin that so easily entangles us? Are we so reverent of Him that we worship Him with our lives instead of just tacking Him on to our own plans? Do we take Him seriously enough that we are compelled to cut out anything that interferes in our relationship with Him? Are we so awed by Him that we seek Him with our whole being, with all of our heart?
Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
Daniel 2:20-22 Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.
1 Corinthians 2:9-13 “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him— these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
He reveals His mysteries by His Spirit to those who fear Him. This casts a new light on the verses about the fear of the Lord being the beginning of wisdom.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Do you want to be someone that the Lord confides in? Did you even think that was possible? Did you know that is what He wants?
Lord, thank you for wanting more than just my belief. Thank you for wanting me to cling to you and follow you. Give me a healthy understanding of what it means to fear you. Help me to walk in that and spread that understanding to others. I do want you to confide in me. Help me to be ready to understand you better. Open my understanding to your Word and your love. Help me to know you more.
