OCTOBER 6th

All around us it seems the wicked are succeeding in their ways. The world seems to have gone crazy evil. Between human trafficking to babies in dumpsters, to half a million foster kids just forgotten, to internet and phone scams against the innocent, to drug trade, this world has gone crazy. We can sometimes feel attacked for our faith, forgotten, or like we are a target. It is true that the birthmark of a Christ follower is a bullseye. When we choose to follow Christ we can pay the price for it. But there are some reassuring words from the Bible for us to remember during our trials.

Psalm 37:7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Psalm 37:12-13 The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.

Their day is coming!! So rather than trying to get revenge ourselves we need to rest in His plan, His vengeance, etc. When we hold on to the situation or get involved ourselves, it keeps Him from pouring out His vengeance because if we are too close to it, we will get scorched ourselves. So let go and let God as they say. Pray mercy for those who harm you so that if they will turn to Him they will be rescued, but His vengeance for those who will not turn to Him.

Hebrews 10:30-31 For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

It comes down to, do you trust Him? Do you trust that He loves you? Do you trust that one day the wicked will pay the price for their wickedness? God have mercy on those lost souls who will one day turn to Him because if they don’t they will suffer wrath that we cannot imagine. One only has to read Revelation! Sometimes we just get so caught up in wanting to see the vengeance NOW! One day God’s people and the Holy Spirit will be removed from the earth and if you think it is chaotic now!!! All hell will break loose then and God will pour out His wrath on the earth. But first…mercy, mercy, mercy. Plenty of chances to turn to Him and be forgiven. On that day of wrath, nobody will be able to complain that they didn’t have a chance to turn to Him. On that day of wrath, there will be nobody left but the wicked. So let’s leave our revenge to Him and be still before Him and wait patiently for Him, praying mercy for our enemies who will one day turn to Him.

Lord, thank you that you have my best interest at heart and you have worked it in to your plan. It is hard not to want vengeance now against those who have hurt or wronged me. Help me to surrender that to you, help me to forgive, help me to pray for them. It is hard to picture them as lost ones that will someday come to you, help me with that and help me to see them through your eyes. Your kingdom come and Your will be done Father.
