OCTOBER 16th

The Church in the western world needs an attitude adjustment. If you don’t think so then think about this question:

Are you on a Truth journey or a Happiness journey?

Most Americans are on a Happiness journey, that includes Christians. Most are chasing the “American dream” of success and material wealth/possessions. That is a never-ending quest, a thirst that is never quenched. The heart wants what it is fed. So we have to guard our heart.

Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

The reality is that a Truth journey results in happiness but it is not the tangible, happiness based on “stuff” or “success” etc. Not that Truth excludes any material things but those things may be used for Kingdom impact. The happiness that results from the Truth journey is much deeper than happiness found anywhere else. The Truth journey bring satisfaction that quenches all thirst.

John 4:13-14 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

There is a battle for our heart and soul. Jesus won the victory over sin, death and the grave and that allow us victory. Now we have to walk in that victory. We must be alert to the schemes of the enemy to distract us from the pursuit of Truth (Jesus).

1 Peter 5:8-9 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

We have to remember that we are in a battle, it is time for us to stay focused and not be distracted by the bling this world has to offer. During wartime you stay in constant contact with your Commander in Chief. Don’t let your faith be like the fire extinguisher that you forgot you had; Stay in communication with the Lord and let Him guide your journey.

Today let us seek Truth. Let us examine our journey and if we find that we are on a journey seeking happiness, let us redirect our course toward the Truth. It is not hard to uncover the reality of our journey, we need only look at our goals, our priorities, our time, our finances. What do those indicate about us?

If we seek happiness instead of Truth, we will miss out on true happiness.

Today are you on a happiness journey or a Truth journey?

Lord thank you for your Truth. Thank you for making your Truth available to me. Forgive me for seeking happiness and the things of this world instead of you. Help me to keep my eyes on you and stay in constant communication with you. Help me to keep my priorities in line with your Truth. Help me to recognize the enemy’s distractions and guide me into pursuit of Truth instead.
