FHC 9-26-2026 The Spirit and The Church
Pastor Bill explains that the Holy Spirit is essential to the Church’s identity, unity, holiness, and mission. The Church was born through the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, it is united as one body by the Holy Spirit, and becomes God’s dwelling place through His presence.
The Holy Spirit:
Empowers believers to witness boldly for Jesus Christ.
Unites people from different backgrounds into one spiritual family.
Gives spiritual gifts for strengthening and serving the Church.
Guides believers into truth through Scripture.
Produces holiness and Christlike character.
Calls the Church to prayer, unity, faithful service, biblical truth, purity, and evangelism.
The Holy Spirit is “the breath of God at work among God’s people.” This idea is connected to three key passages:
Genesis 2:7 — God breathes life into humanity.
John 20:19–23 — Jesus breathes on His disciples and tells them to receive the Holy Spirit.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 — Scripture is God-breathed and equips believers for every good work.
In closing, Pastor Bill emphasizes that God has provided everything believers need through the Holy Spirit and the God-breathed Word.
He also reflects on the “Life Surge” event he recently attended and Freedom House Church’s statement, “We Gather / We Grow / We Go.” He shares the phrase “GOD IS ABLE” to encourage believers not to let perceived limitations prevent them from serving or sharing the gospel. Pastor Bill also promotes the movie “No Limbs No Limits” the story of Nick Vujicic.
