DAY 33

As we read Revelation chapters 6-11 we see so much judgement. It is overwhelming and even seems severe. We don’t like thinking about God’s judgement, but we have to take some time to consider what this means to us and to others. There is no verse in these chapters that tells us where we are in the timeline or what happens to Christians during this time so we don’t know. However, if it was important for us to know, God would make sure we knew. The bottom line is that you only need to be concerned about your salvation and focus on being the light to those around you so that you can take as many people to heaven with you as you can so THEY also don’t suffer the wrath of God.

Consider a few things:

All of this judgement is coming and seems scary to talk about and think about. Often we find ourselves wanting to avoid the subject of God’s judgement or wrath and just focus on His love. But His wrath and judgement is necessary.

Heaven is the place with no wrong in it BECAUSE of the judgement and wrath of God.

That wrath and judgement we see in Revelation is NOT in the absence of love. For God so loved the world, God wants no one to perish, but all to come to salvation. That doesn’t change ever, but in the end those who continue to insist that they don’t want God, will get what they want -life without God, and it will be Hell.

But how can a God of love send people to hell?

People- it will break God’s heart to see anyone go to hell! But those people will be getting exactly what they want. If they insist to the end that they don’t want God, then that is what they will get. The wage of sin is spiritual death. That consequence of sin will be doled out on everyone at the end of time. No person is exempt from paying the consequence of sin. The only ones who don’t have to pay the consequence of sin are those that Jesus already paid it for, those who accept His sacrifice.

But before that end comes, He will show the people mercy. He will send waves of judgement (7 seals, 7 angels, with 7 trumpets) to some who will not turn, to give others the opportunity/time to turn to Him. God is not slow as some think, instead He is patient, not wanting any to perish. Instead of wiping everyone out at once, He does things in stages to allow time for repentance.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Nobody will pay the consequence of their sin unless that is what THEY choose. Our just and fair God ensures that EVERY SINGLE PERSON has the opportunity to choose.

Jesus, thank you for paying the consequence for my sin. Help me to pray for opportunities to share that with others so that they can repent and choose you before it is too late. Give me a boldness to share the Truth in situations that I have not been brave enough to do so before. Thank you for your patience and your perfect love for all of us.
