The Book of Revelation Devotions Day 32

Chapter 7 in Revelation gives us another reminder that God’s plan is perfect. Even though we don’t understand all of the details, especially the WHEN.

Revelation 7 talks about the 144,000 from the tribes of Israel that will be sealed for God in the end times. Now many people try to argue about this chapter. Some try to argue that the 144,000 are not Jews. Others wonder if it is Jews what does that mean for those of us who are not Jews? I would say that Revelation 7 is most definitely clear that the 144,000 is made up of 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel. But then it immediately discusses the multitudes (many more than 144,000) of other believers that are there worshipping. It is revealed there in that chapter that those in the multitude are those who have come out of the Great Tribulation.

So even though we don’t know when this happens, we do see that there will be multitudes of believers saved out of the tribulation and 144,000 Jews that will endure the tribulation (or at least a significant part of it) and will survive because they will be sealed and therefore will be untouchable.

Two things to note:

-We know that the end will not come until all have heard the Gospel

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

-Some Jews will not come to Christ until all of the Gentiles that will believe have chosen to believe. (Gentiles: means all non-Jews)

Romans 11:25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in

So, although we may not know the timing, we can speed His coming by sharing the Gospel around the globe so that all will have heard it. Then when the time is right, the hearts of Israel will be softened and those that choose Jesus will be rescued.

Jesus, I will trust you and your plan even though I don’t understand why things will happen the way they will. Help me to be busy spreading your message. Remind me to pray for unbelievers around the world and for Israel and those who don’t know you yet there. Holy Spirit please help me stay in tune with your voice and your will.
